If you already use the Gmail app on your phone, there is no reason to install another email app just because you switched to ICTechMail. The Gmail app on both Android and iOS supports third-party IMAP accounts, which means you can read, send, and manage your custom domain email right from the same app you already know.

This guide walks you through every step of adding your ICTechMail email account to the Gmail app on Android and iOS.

Why Use the Gmail App with ICTechMail?

There are several practical reasons to pair the Gmail app with your ICTechMail account:

Before You Start

Add ICTechMail Email to Gmail App on Android

Follow these steps on your Android phone or tablet:

  1. Open the Gmail app and tap your profile icon in the top-right corner.
  2. Tap Add another account.
  3. Select Other from the list of email providers. Do not select Google, Outlook, or Yahoo.
  4. Enter your full ICTechMail email address (e.g. you@yourdomain.com) and tap Next.
  5. Select Personal (IMAP) when asked what type of account this is.
  6. Enter your ICTechMail email password and tap Next.
  7. On the Incoming server settings screen, enter:
    • Server: smtp.swiftthinkr.ai
    • Port: 993
    • Security type: SSL/TLS
  8. Tap Next.
  9. On the Outgoing server settings screen, enter:
    • SMTP server: smtp.swiftthinkr.ai
    • Port: 587
    • Security type: STARTTLS
    • Require sign-in: Yes
    • Username: your full email address
    • Password: your ICTechMail email password
  10. Tap Next, configure your sync preferences (frequency, notifications), and tap Next again.
  11. Give the account a name (e.g. "Work Email") and confirm your display name. Tap Next to finish.

Your ICTechMail inbox will now appear in the Gmail app. You can switch between accounts by tapping your profile icon.

Add ICTechMail Email to Gmail App on iOS (iPhone and iPad)

The process on iOS is nearly identical:

  1. Open the Gmail app and tap your profile icon in the top-right corner.
  2. Tap Add another account.
  3. Select Other (IMAP) from the list.
  4. Enter your full ICTechMail email address and tap Next.
  5. Enter your password and tap Next.
  6. The app may attempt to auto-discover settings. If it asks for manual configuration, enter:
    • IMAP server: smtp.swiftthinkr.ai
    • IMAP port: 993

  7. For outgoing mail:
    • SMTP server: smtp.swiftthinkr.ai
    • SMTP port: 587

  8. Tap Next and wait for the Gmail app to verify the connection.
  9. Once verified, your ICTechMail account will appear alongside your other accounts in the Gmail app.

Sending Email as Your Custom Domain

Once you add your ICTechMail account, every email you compose from that account in the Gmail app will be sent from your custom domain address. There is no extra configuration needed.

When you tap Compose, look at the "From" field. If you have multiple accounts in the Gmail app, you can tap the From field to switch between them. Select your ICTechMail address to send as you@yourdomain.com.

Recipients will see your custom domain in their inbox, not a Gmail address. This is especially important for business communication where a professional email address builds trust with clients and partners.

Troubleshooting

If you run into problems during setup, check these common issues:

"Cannot connect to server" or "Authentication failed"

  • Double-check your password. ICTechMail passwords are case-sensitive. Make sure there are no extra spaces.
  • Verify the username. Use your full email address (e.g. you@yourdomain.com), not just the part before the @.
  • Check server addresses. Both IMAP and SMTP should point to smtp.swiftthinkr.ai, not mail.swiftthinkr.ai or smtp.www.swiftthinkr.ai.

"Certificate not trusted" warning

  • Make sure you are using SSL/TLS for IMAP (port 993) and STARTTLS for SMTP (port 587). Using the wrong security type for the wrong port causes certificate warnings.
  • Do not use port 465 unless specifically instructed. Port 587 with STARTTLS is the recommended SMTP configuration.

Emails send but are not received by others

  • Verify your domain DNS records are correctly configured in the ICTechMail dashboard. SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records are essential for deliverability.
  • Check your ICTechMail webmail Sent folder to confirm the message left your account.

Sync is slow or not real-time

  • Go to Gmail app settings for your ICTechMail account and set sync frequency to Every 15 minutes or enable push if available.
  • On Android, make sure the Gmail app is not being restricted by battery optimization. Go to Settings > Apps > Gmail > Battery and select "Unrestricted."

Cannot see all folders

  • In the Gmail app, tap the hamburger menu (three lines) and scroll down. Your ICTechMail IMAP folders should appear below the default Gmail labels. If they do not, go to Settings > your ICTechMail account > manage labels to enable the folders you need.
